Starting to get somewhere now! Photos from Japan - the first leg of our big holiday - are now uploaded and online for everyone to see!

Most of them have been captioned, so I won't repost anything here - go and have a look! Any questions, you know where to find us to ask!

Some observations about Japan:
* I'd love to go back. 2 nights was just way too short. It's an extremely interesting place, and very beautiful.

* The people are so friendly, and so helpful. We didn't speak a word of Japanese, but everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to help us. An example was when we first arrived into Tokyo, we needed to catch a taxi to our hotel from the nearest bus stop. We were half-way through checking in when our taxi driver re-appeared with a wallet he had found on his back seat. As it turns out, it wasn't ours, but he must have got back to the taxi rank and been tidying his cab when he found it. Instead of doing what most Aussies would do and just pocketing it, he remembered where he'd taken us and bought it straight back. He was most disappointed when we told him it wasn't actually ours, as you could see him trying to remember who he had taken previously to us, and if he could work out a way to get it back to them.

* The city itself is beautiful. lovely side street and wide footpaths, with little parks and Shinto shrines nestled in between apartment blocks and office buildings.

* We never felt anything less than completely safe. The city and all it's people are wonderfully civilised, and it's just a very nice place.

Suffice to say, we really enjoyed our very short time in Japan, and have vowed to go back at some stage and explore a bit more.
